Mallrats is good, but Chasing Amy is the movie that would drive us all sane if we re-watched it (or showed it to the kids for the first time).

I saw it again not terribly long ago- I think it's aged better than the popular consensus would indicate. Honestly I sometimes think that sort of middlebrow "normie guy dumber than a bag of rocks wrestles with the Big Issues and learns his lesson in the end at a cost" film disappearing is an underrated part of how the culture got so deranged.

Agreed. Also, the famous "black rage" scene—how was that cynical political/social dynamic so well understood in 1997 that you could boil it down to a 3-minute skit and then we just did it all again in the 2010s (cf. Coates's whole career arc, a genteel version to be sure...)?
